The Aberdeen Township Police Department is looking for School Crossing Guards
DUTIES: The School Crossing Guard or Spare School Crossing Guard will control and direct children safely through crosswalks, observe vehicle traffic, maintain time sheets, and must be able to work in extreme weather conditions. Must be available for short notice calls to work. Hours: Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 9:30am, and 2:00pm to 4:00 pm. This is an on call position.
MINIMUM STANDARDS & ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: School Crossing Guards must be high school graduates or have GED. Candidates must have a phone, a valid driver’s license with a good driving record in order to provide their own reliable transportation.
Candidates for this position must have in depth understanding not only of traffic signals but traffic patterns and behavior as well. They should meet all state or federal requirements, as well as successfully pass a background check. Must have no convictions involving moral turpitude. They should know basic safety procedures and practices relevant to their job as school crossing guards. They should know how to use good judgment as they interact with children.
