10/23/2020 - Road Closure on Lower Main Street

CRS Contractors LLC will be conducting a sewer main project on Lower Main Street (Monmouth County Route 516) This project will be located on Lower Main Street between Central Avenue and Atlantic Avenue. This project will have a major impact on vehicle traffic, who travel Lower Main Street into the downtown Matawan Borough and the Matawan-Aberdeen Train Station.

The Aberdeen Township Police Department has been advised that the tentative start date for this project is set to begin on Monday, October 26th, 2020 and end on Friday, October 30th, 2020.   However, weather and unforeseen conditions may extend the work schedule and traffic conditions.

In order to complete this work in a safe and efficient manner, Lower Main Street during this project will be closed 24 hours a day at the intersections of Gerard Avenue and Atlantic Avenue to ALL vehicular traffic traveling in BOTH directions. Local travel will be permitted up until Central Avenue and in the opposite direction to Dock Street.

A full detour plan has been established and approved, which has been posted along the roadways in our area. We understand that this will affect traffic, so we are asking the public to plan an alternate route while this project is taking place. If you have a social media account please share this message with family, friends and co-workers who live and work in this area.

The detour plan calls for vehicles to use Lloyd Road, Church Street and Atlantic Avenue to navigate around this roadwork. AGAIN detour signs have been placed up in advance for you to plan ahead.
