ABERDEEN TOWNSHIP OFFERS NEW OPTION FOR DISPOSAL OF ELECTRONICS
ABERDEEN TOWNSHIP (3/8/10) – The Aberdeen Township Department of Public Works is now accepting electronics for recycling at the public works yard on Lenox Road off Cliffwood Avenue.
Accepted items include computer monitors, keyboards, scanners, CPU’s, televisions, modems, hard drives, laptops, stereos, VCR’s, fax machines, copy machines, and printers.
Electronic equipment that is in a cabinet will not be accepted.
“Consumer electronics and computer equipment contain potentially hazardous metals such as lead, cadmium and mercury that may cause problems if disposed of improperly,” explained Aberdeen Township Director of Public Works Bob Brady. “For that reason, these items cannot be thrown away with the regular garbage pick-up and should be brought to the Public Works yard.”
The Public Works Garage is open Monday to Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
